Hello

My name is Sebastian Caon-Cook.

I set up Speak for Yourself Speech & Language Pathology in 2020.

My mission is to

  • provide high quality, tailored speech pathology using evidence based practice

  • ensure everyone can communicate with autonomy

My Story

I graduated with a Bachelor of Speech Pathology 2013 and have been practicing as a Speech & Language Pathologist (SLP) for 10+ years.

My background is primarily in the area of supporting developmental communication difficulties, but also includes supporting acquired disabilities especially the area of AAC.

Prior to opening my own practice, I have worked as a speech & language pathologist in

  • Secondary and primary schools

  • AAC consultant for assistive technology service

  • State government based disability services

Outside of my SLP roles, I have also served as Professional development coordinator for Agosci.

I beleive learning is lifelong and highly value ongoing professional development. Some of the extra professional learning I have obtained includes

My published works include

  • "ISAAC 2023 - What's the latest in our understanding of AAC?" (Agosci InFocus, Issue 54, 2023)

  • "Imagining the possibilities: the journey towards obtaining AAC" (ISAAC 2018 Conference poster presentation) *co-author

Outside of my work, I spend my time gardening, hiking, playing with my dog, and learning Spanish.
